Location: |
Momyer Creek Trail, Forest Falls |
What you need: |
The usual- Walking/Hiking shoes, backpack, water, food, sunscreen. |
What you need to know: |
Same spot as TH#3. If you're new, the trail head is a bit tricky to find, so plan on carpooling, or at least meeting at the Carpool/Meet spot, and following us up. |
Other Information: |
Ranger said it was unmaintained trail, and that a hiker told him it was very overgrown towards the top. It could be a tough hike to go all the way to San Bernardino Peak. |
Directions to Momyer Creek Trailhead: |
Take Hwy 38 to the turn off for Forest Falls. Continue up the road 3 miles to the large parking area on your left, 100 yards before the fire station. If you see the fire station on your right, you passed the trail parking area. There is a sign that says "Momyer Creek Trail" but it's off the road a bit, and not that easy to see. |
Carpool/Meet Spot |
Stater Brothers Market, 11365 Bryant St., Yucaipa Be at Stater's by 6:45 as we leave there @6:55 to head up! |
The last training hike.........was tough! I would say it was the toughest one yet, and everyone seemed to push themselves and go farther and higher than ever.

We didn't get a group shot at the start, but about 3.5 miles of tough hiking up, most of the group got together. Not in was Super Dave, and hiking monster John (who was pushing for San Bernardino Peak) |
 |
I tried to get a group shot with everyone...plus me, but I didn't quite get everyone, so I tried again....... |
 |
.....and still didn't quite get everyone. I did get a good shot of my ugly mug though....twice! |

Most would say this is a poorly taken picture....I say it's an artistic shot! Kat, Alan & Steve working their way up.

Lori on only her 3rd training hike did great as usual. Good hiking deserves a good break in the shade. (photos courtesy Sonya) |
 |
John and of course his awesome dogs, started 20 minutes after the group, and caught & passed everyone less than an hour later. |
 |
Newcomer Kack took a majestic pose high up on the ridge.....or was he saying, "Are you guys coming or what?!" |
 |
Dave about 4 miles up with John pushing from behind. I just wanted to brag that I took this shot over my shoulder without looking! |
 |
2 good shots of Steve, down low on the trail, and much higher up. I think in the second he's saying, "Why did we let Dan talk us into doing THIS trail?! (photos courtesy Sonya) |

Kack & John + dogs looking casual on the brutally steep trail. |

A great shot of John and his dogs. And giving them some treats after a hike well done. (photos courtesy Sonya) |
 |
Sonya, Kat, Alan & Steve all pushed on after all the rest of us headed back, and they encountered some very overgrown trail.....but did get a better view higher up than we did. (photos courtesy Sonya) |
