When: | Saturday, April 12th |
Time: | Meet 7:00-7:30 am. Start hiking promptly at 7:30 am |
Duration: | @6 hours, 2.5 - 3 hours out, 2.5 - 3 hours back |
Location: | San Bernardino Peak Trail, Angelus Oaks |
What you need: | The usual- Walking/Hiking shoes, backpack, water, food, sunscreen |
What you need to know: | This hike will be easier than the last 2....I promise! So we'll try to go a farther distance. Try to go 4.5 - 5 miles out, at a 30 minute/mile pace. |
Other Information: | I hope you all are doing small things during the week on your own that will help you on the summit hikes. Any walking or exercises you do will add up, and make things easier come crunch time. We're doing 3 mountain summit hikes in May and that is.....less than a month away! Everyone has done, and is doing great, so keep it up. |
Directions to San Bernardino Peak Trailhead: | Take Hwy 38 until you see the sign for Angelus Oaks. The trail is not marked from this direction, so as soon as you enter Angelus Oaks, turn right on the road just before the fire station. Turn left to pass in front of the fire station. You'll travel on a service road parallel to Hwy 38, and you should see a sign for the trailhead. Turn right and follow this dirt road up to the right until you get to the dirt parking area. There is room for many cars in this parking area. |
Carpool/Meet Spot | Stater Brothers Market, 11365 Bryant St., YucaipaIt takes about 30 minutes to get from Stater's to Angelus Oaks, so if you want a ride up, or can take someone up, be at Stater's by 6:30. We will leave there by 6:40, and get to the trailhead by 7:15. Start hiking 7:30. |

The trail was good for 3.2 miles up with just some patches of tricky white stuff, and the weather was perfect (of course) Miles: 6.4 - 9 |

The snowy conditions made it a bit shorter total distance for most of us, Steve, Dave, Michael & Iscela ventured farter into the snow than the rest of the group, and Steve & Dave made it to Manzanita flats. Iscela working across a slippery section in the shade. |
