Training Hike #3

Location: Momyer Creek Trail
When: Saturday, March 29th
Time: Meet 7:30-8:00 am. Start hiking promptly at 8:00 am
Duration: @5 hours. We should be back to the cars before 1:00pm.
Location: Momyer Creek Trail, Forest Falls
What you need: The usual- Walking/Hiking shoes, backpack, water, food, sunscreen.
What you need to know: This will be the first hike on an actual trail. It will be tougher than the previous 2 weeks, and we will try to keep a steady pace and get as far as we can. We need to hike up for 2 1/2 to 3 hours. If there is rain or snow, I will post an alternate hike site for the day.
Other Information: The trail head is a bit tricky to find, so plan on carpooling, or at least meeting at the Carpool/Meet spot, and following me up. Get there early!
Directions to Momyer Creek Trailhead: Take Hwy 38 to the turn off for Forest Falls. Continue up the road 3 miles to the large parking area on your left, 100 yards before the fire station. If you see the fire station on your right, you passed the trail parking area. There is a sign that says "Momyer Creek Trail" but it's off the road a bit, and not that easy to see.
Carpool/Meet Spot Stater Brothers Market, 11365 Bryant St., Yucaipa 7:15 am!
Another good Training hike! This time we took the group shot before we started. (I didn't get pics of Kathy or Aaron's mother, Londa. Sorry about not getting the pics ladies, I'll do a whole cover photo shoot on ya next training hike.)
Attendees: 16
Heading out into the creek bed.......

Miles: 7 - 10? (Some people went farther than others.)
The hike organizer realized the snow melt was going to be a problem getting accross the fast moving stream. Everyone did good, and made it accross dry and safe. (whew!)

Hours: 4.5 - 5 hours
2 newcomers for TH#3- Lori and son Jake. Excellent job you two!

Weather: Perfect! Clear and cool.
2 of the more experienced hikers in the group- Sonya & Kat

A little breather after a steep section. Dave, Luis, Steve, Ana. Aaron in the background.

Newcomer Aaron moving along at a good pace higher up.
Megan & Ella on a section with a great view.
Ella & Megan, who caught up with the lead hikers! Good job ladies.
Michael (1st training hike) & Iscela (2nd training hike, but she did San Gorgonio with me last year)
Are these guys saying, "We own this mountain!" or what?
Here was the lead group, with hiking monster Steve setting the pace. We were panting harder than the dogs!
Here's Jan (John) being led by his 2 awesome dogs.
Newcomer Dave plugging away.
Steve...did you even break a sweat?!
It was Luis' first training hike, but he was keeping pace right behind Steve.
And this was the view.
I whined and complained that I never got my picture taken, so Iscela grabbed the camera from me and said, "Here you little baby, I'll take a picture of your ugly mug!"
Sonya & Kat up high on the ridge.
Jake & Lori up high on the ridge.......
.......and their view, the view that those that didn't come MISSED! Neener Neener Neener
On the way down, the view up the valley towards Forest Falls and Vivian Creek area (TH#6, TH#7, and San Gorgonio Summit Hike.)
So let's see everyone (and others) next week back in the Mt. Baldy area for Training Hike #4! Yes?..... Yes!
