Training Hike #2

Location: Mt. Baldy- Manker Flats
When: Saturday, March 22nd
Time: Meet between 7:30-8:00 am. Start Hiking promptly at 8:00 am
Duration: 3-4 hours. We should be driving away by 12:15.
Location: Mt. Baldy- Manker Flats
What you need: Walking/Hiking shoes. Several layers of warm clothing. A backpack. Water. Food/snacks are a good idea. Sunscreen. National Forest Adventure Pass (for Parking)
What you need to know: This will basically be a walk on a dirt road but with higher elevation than last week's hike. It may be cold, so bring layers of clothing that can be removed and put back on when needed. The distance will be 7.2 miles. NOTE: There has been a lot of snow in this area! If there is still snow, or if it's raining, I will put a link below to an alternate training hike site at a lower elevation.
Other Information: This is the same location we will be using for the Mt. Baldy summit hike, so don't miss this one. The directions below get you to the ski lift parking lot, but we will be parking about a 1/2 mile BEFORE the ski lift parking lot. Parking is in dirt areas near the Manker Flats Campground. The dirt road we will be hiking is on the left. Look for a small white car with a box on the roof, that's me! Email me if you need more specifics.

Another good Training hike! For those that didn't make it, get out there next week, you're missing out on the fun!

Attendees: 10 (+4 late-comers)
There was a bit of snow on the service road, but it didn't really pose a problem.

Miles: 7.2 - 7.4
This is the infamous Mt. Baldy Bob greeting some of the group (and trying to solicit us to rent some inner tubes for some fun snow sledding!)

Hours: 3 hrs 45 min.
We warmed up and rested a bit at the snack bar at Baldy Notch, then posed for the group photo. (Everyone's favorite hiking host took the picture)

Weather: Windy and Chilly early heading out and up top, Warm & perfect on the way down.
I'm a bit sore and exhausted from running trying to catch up to the "in-shape" crowd on the way down....and I never did catch 'em.

See you all next week at Momyer Trail for TH #3!
